The Longy School of Music at Bard College is a conservatory founded in 1915. The school confers the Master of Music degree, undergraduate diploma, graduate performance diploma, artist diploma, and Dalcroze Certificate and License.
The school offers bachelor's and master's degrees in organ, piano, strings, voice, woodwind, brass, and composition. Additional graduate programs are available in other areas, including opera, early music, and chamber music. Undergraduate students can jointly enroll at Emerson College in Boston and pursue the Longy undergraduate diploma and Emerson's Bachelor of Music degree simultaneously.
Recent Longy graduates have gone directly into the ranks of major performing organizations, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the New World Symphony, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, and the and the Orquestra del Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia (Valencia, Spain).
