When should you visit Boston University

You can visit the BU campus anytime if you plan to do a self-guided campus tour. However, if you would like to join an official student-led tour and participate in an information session, you will need to schedule a visit (see below).

Popular visiting times are spring, summer, and fall. In spring and fall, you will be able to see the school in action with a full complement of students. Summer can also be a good choice because you can combine a visit with a vacation trip to Boston and New England. Fall is unique because you will be able to see the campus in its most glorious fall colours.

Types of Visits

There are different ways you can visit the campus:

  1. Registered visit
  2. Self-Guided visit
  3. Virtual Visit

Registered Visit

If you want to join an official student-led campus tour and an Information Session, you should register your visit online.  If you don’t register,  you will still be able to visit, but you will have to do a self-guided tour of the campus.

To schedule a visit, you need to go to BU’s website and schedule an Event (the term they use for a campus visit).

Self-Guided Visit

If you didn't register for a visit, you can take a self-guided mobile walking tour. Using your phone, you will be able to explore the campus with BU’s excellent phone app. This tour will include the West Campus and Housing facilities with many videos and narrated tour stops.

If you go during official visiting hours, you will be able to ask questions at the Vistor Center.

Virtual Visits

If you can’t come to Boston for an in-person visit, BU has an excellent virtual visiting tour. It offers a comprehensive set of informational videos showing you many important details of its schools, academics, residential life and more.

The Visitor Center is the starting point of any BU visit. Personnel at the center will set you up for your tour and can answer any questions.  A member of the Board of Admissions will also be available to answer questions.  Visiting hours are stated below.
