Founded in 1898, Northeastern University is a private research university located in the heart of Boston. Northeastern is a leader in experiential learning, urban engagement and interdisciplinary research that meets global and societal needs.

Northeastern offers undergraduate majors in 65 departments. At the graduate level, there are more than 125 programs. Academics at Northeastern is grounded in the integration of classroom studies with experiential learning opportunities, including cooperative education, student research, service learning, and global experience. The university also offers adult continuing education.

Most Northeastern students take advantage of the school's coop program where they can gain significant work experience during their studies. The university accomplishes this through a worldwide network of cooperative education employers that include multinational corporations, high-technology start-ups, hospitals and research institutions, engineering firms, financial institutions, nonprofits and government agencies, museums and other cultural organizations, and arts and entertainment companies. Students can choose to complete their degree in four years, with the potential for two co-ops, or five years, building in time for three co-ops. While students pay for eight semesters of tuition in either scenario, one in six students now opts to graduate in four years.

The university offers ten varsity sports including baseball, basketball, rowing soccer, swimming, track and field and volleyball. Additionally, the school supports over 40 club sports, including judo, rugby, lacrosse, squash, cycling ,and ultimate frisbee. The Northeastern Huskies compete in the NCAA Division I Colonial Athletic Conference.

The 73-acre campus is dynamic and welcoming, a beautiful stretch of leafy green in the heart of Boston. It is only steps away from all the city attractions.
