The New England Institute of Art is an accredited, for-profit, applied arts college. The school offers ten majors in art fields taught by professionals of those industries. It offers full-time, part-time, evening and online classes.

The college has bachelor's programs in advertising, audio and media technology, digital film-making and video production, fashion and retail management, graphic design, interior design, media arts and animation, photography and web design and interactive media. It offers associate degrees in audio production and photography. It also offers certificate programs in audio production, multi-media and web design and photography. 

The school states as its mission "The New England Institute of Art educates students from diverse backgrounds and experiences to become working professionals who are thoughtful, engaged citizens. A skills-based curriculum blended with a strong liberal arts core allows students to focus on futures in the creative economy through the fields of media arts, creative business, and design."

The college is located in Brookline, only minutes from downtown Boston. The college does not provide dorms but offers sponsored housing. Many students choose to stay in nearby apartments or with families. Access to public transportation is easy via the Green Line (T) light rail.
