Montserrat College of Art is a four-year residential college specializing in the visual arts, located in Beverly, Massachusetts.
Montserrat offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in animation and interactive media, book arts, graphic design, illustration, painting and drawing, photography/video, printmaking, sculpture, self-designed studies, and a program in art education, as well as minors in art history and creative writing. It also offers non-credit classes for adults, teens, and children and for-credit summer programs for high school students.
Students focus their first year on building fundamental skills and concepts of visual language and exploring various working methods. In all the foundation art courses, no single activity or approach dominates. The faculty structures their art courses to accommodate the unique blend of creative abilities in every student. Short-term and single-class assignments are balanced with several longer investigations that last a number of weeks. Students also collaborate on projects and participate in group discussions and critiques.
The school's campus is located in Beverly, MA, about 25 miles north of Boston. The campus is immersed in the town of Beverly, and there are a number of entertainment options nearby. Public transportation to Boston is available via the Commuter Rail system.
