How Covid-19 is impacting Boston Area Colleges

The Colleges in Boston have responded swiftly to the Coronavirus.  Though most schools are open for business,  they are operating with limited schedules.  For example, Boston University had to curtail their operation dramatically to follow the rules established by Governor Baker and to keep students and employes safe.  This includes:

  • Closure of the University campus to students, faculty and administration personnel except few essential people.
  • Sending Students home for the school year and changing  from classroom instruction to online courses.
  • Have administration personnel stay away from the campus and work remotely from home.
  • Suspend most ongoing research.
  • Suspend travel by college personnel .
  • Suspend Summer Programs except those that can be held online.
  • Cancel all Study Abroad Programs for this Summer.
  • Cancel all K to 12 Summer Programs.
  • Cancel campus tours and visits.

As this is new territory for most colleges, it is not clear at this time if and when more actions need to be taken.  Many Colleges assume for now that normal operation will resume in the Fall semester.

Steps taken vary a great deal from one college to another and to make sure you get the latest information, we recommend checking the Covid-19 pages on their websites.  You wil find the appropriate links below.
