Berklee College of Music, located in Boston, is the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world. Its focus is on contemporary music in the broadest sense of musical styles, including jazz, blues, rock, pop, R&B, gospel, bluegrass, latin, modern orchestral, and world music.
The school offers four-year bachelor's degrees and professional diplomas. Students may combine many of Berklee's 12 majors, depending on the nature of the program. Majors offered are composition, contemporary writing and production, electronic production and design, film scoring, jazz composition, music business and management, music education, music production and engineering, music therapy, performance, professional music, and songwriting.
Developing musicianship, proficiency, and a strong knowledge of music reading and harmony is the foundation of the curriculum. The school believes that the lessons and qualities derived from that work are critical.
The school's residence halls are located in the Back Bay Fenway neighborhood of Boston, close to all the attractions that Boston has to offer.
Berklee's international campus is located in Valencia, Spain, and focuses on graduate programs in the following areas: contemporary studio performance, contemporary writing and production, electronic production and design, global entertainment and music business, symphonic band studies, and scoring for film, television, and video games.
